BookMarx ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome Extension and related services.

1. Information We Collect

To provide the features of this extension, we collect and process the following data:

A. Personal Identification Information

We collect your email address when you sign in via Google OAuth. This is required to:

• Verify your identity
• Check the status of your subscription
• Associate your bookmarks with your account

B. Authentication Information

We store OAuth access and refresh tokens locally in your browser (via chrome.storage.local) to keep you signed in. We do not store or have access to your Google password.

C. Your X (Twitter) Bookmark Content

We only access bookmarks from your own X account, and only when you manually click "Sync Now." We do not access any other browsing data, tweets, or pages.

D. Payment Information

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card details or billing address. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status (e.g., "Active" or "Inactive") to grant access to premium features.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• Authentication: To verify your identity and subscription status
• Core Functionality: To back up, store, and let you search your X bookmarks
• Sync Management: To track sync progress and avoid duplicate entries
• Support: To respond to customer service requests

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others.

Service Providers: We use the following third-party services to operate BookMarx:

• Supabase: Database and authentication services (stores your email and bookmark data)
• Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management
• Netlify: Website and API hosting

These providers only receive data necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.

4. Permissions Usage

Our extension requests only the permissions necessary to function:

• Storage: To save your login session, preferences, and sync state locally
• Tabs: To open and manage the X bookmarks tab during sync
• Notifications: To alert you about sync status, errors, and subscription issues
• Alarms: To schedule sync reminders and manage sync timing
• Identity: To handle Google OAuth sign-in securely
• Host Permissions (x.com, twitter.com): To read your bookmarks page when you initiate a sync
• Host Permissions (supabase.co): To communicate with our backend for auth and data storage

We do not monitor, collect, or store your general browsing history or activity on sites other than x.com/i/bookmarks.

5. Data Retention

Your bookmark data is retained in our database as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your data, please contact us and we will remove your account and all associated bookmark data.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data transmission
• Secure authentication via Google OAuth
• Row-level security in our database ensuring users can only access their own data

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
